Course revisited from 1987 to 2002 (new edition remastered).
What a gamble to embark on the defense of contemporary music in general and the saxophone in particular!
We could mention here the birth and growth of the "Icarians".
It should be remembered that it was an association of performers-composers in Aquitaine for research, founded among others by Bernard Carlosema, Jean-Michel Goury, Yves Josset, Christian Lauba, Etienne Rolin and François Rossé.
Twenty years ago we were talking, and demanding the right to broadcast contemporary music.
With numerous records and associative editions (mainly at Erol records and Question de Temperéraments), concerts, residencies and professional training cycles, we now claim the simple maintenance of the stage and media space.
It is obvious that our action is not only attached to the Southwest, the original land of welcome.
If later we will evoke a "school of Bordeaux", known as the cradle of ICAR, and strongly linked to the saxophone by the emblematic figure of Jean-Marie Londeix, it is undeniable that our music will have already toured the planet, thus deeply touching the classical and contemporary saxophone world. Over time, this individual creation became collective. We no longer write in the purity of abstraction but according to the dynamism of our interpreters. The free and innovative nature of the pieces presented here evokes the impulses of improvisation. The open space, conducive to research, grants performers the flexibility of musical execution necessary for any living artistic enterprise.
